What is the True Meaning to "Believe" in Jesus Christ?

Dear Friends,

Many people believe that Jesus existed:  Muslims, Jews, and even atheist and Satan and demons [James 2:19] believe the fact that Jesus existed. And many believe He died on the cross. But this is not the meaning of "believe" in Jesus as God prescribes.  In John 3:16 Jesus says:

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

And the apostle John said in 1 John 5:11-13:

"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."

So what does it mean "He who has the Son has life" and that "you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God."  John is talking to give assurance to Christians.  Believe in Jesus means to make Him number one in our lives, to trust, to follow, to obey and to rely on Him and to realize we cannot save ourselves, but that we are saved only by the blood of Jesus and what He has done for us. To believe in Christ is to yield all to Him, turning your life over to Him with a renewed mind. When we believe in Jesus we obey His commandments. We are commanded to love one another.  Believing that He died [tortured and crucified], was buried, rose from the dead three days later [as He said He would be] and now sits at the right hand of God in Heaven with all authority to judge the heavens and the earth.
