RUPERT TAKES A DOG TO LUNCH

To stretch his legs and clear his mind, Rupert frequently went on afternoon walks. He walked the city streets up and down for an hour watching people, looking in shop windows and smelling food in the air mixed in with the smell of wet concrete and car exhaust.

One day on his walk, Rupert decided to go through the park. There he saw a lovely young lady walking a white fluffy dog. The dog was an ordinary dog but the lady was anything but ordinary, according to Rupert.  Rupert approached the dog and said "You are a pretty dog. Can I treat you to lunch?

The lady said "What?"  Are you talking to me?

"Oh, no Miss, I am talking to your dog.  I want to know if your dog is free for lunch today."

"And what did my dog say?"

"He said he is ready for lunch now."

"He said that?"

"Yes.  Rupert put out his hand.

"Do you want something?"

"His leash."

"I come with his leash."

"So you are saying if I want to take him to lunch you have to come too?"

"Yes.  I go where he goes."

"There is a little pizzeria around the corner."  Rupert put out his arm.

"Do you usually meet girls this way"

"No, I usually meet dogs this way. The girls always want to come along.
