The Existence of God and Knowing Him

Dear Friends,

Everyone has an inner sense of God.  We are born with this sense that God has given us. Every human being, in his own mind, believes in God and has formed an opinion of God whether suppressed or present in his conscious. But, sadly, billions of people now living and those who have died have formed incorrect ideas of God and rejected Him. Satan has done this because of the sin nature we are all born with. Satan is the opposite of God. God is love. Satan is hate. Hardened hearts of pride in people are formed by continued sin and by neglecting and disregarding God. Idolatry has become widespread where fundamental doctrine in many modern churches has changed. Satan is at work to bring confusion and chaos in the church. Let’s first get one thing straight:  there is but one God.  He is the God of the Bible: The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  He is the Father of Jesus.  He is called Father by Christians.  He is all powerful, sovereign and the Creator.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever. God does not change; but people try to change Him. God is three persons existing as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus] and the Word was God…” (John 1:1-3).  God, the Father, the Son [Jesus] and the Holy Spirit were not created. They have always existed.  This is hard to understand by most people.  This is why a Christian must believe and have faith. You cannot get to know God without faith. You do not have to understand; you have to believe that God is truth and that the Bible is the Word of God.

 

Nonbelievers, followers of other religions and false Christians are spiritually dead, they are dead in sin and slaves to sin.  This is commonly called spiritual blindness or Satanic blindness. As idolaters they have fooled themselves (with Satan’s help) to follow false gods and doctrine. Many professing Christians fall into this group by not believing the Holy Bible as absolute truth, the Word of God. The Bible is infallible. Many “so called” professing Christians do not read or study the Bible. How do they know God if they do not know His Word? They don’t. So they make up ideas of a special god to suit their needs. This is not the God of the Bible. Others take instruction from unqualified heretics who do not know God or the teachings from the Bible. False and professing Christians who cherry pick things out of the Bible have formed a type of idolatry; they have created a god that submits to them and their ideas.  Their god is a god of unconditional love, love, love, all love and nothing but love.  They do not understand the meaning of love. God is also wrath. They do not fear God, His reverence, His holiness and righteousness and power. Fearing God is good and it is noted many times in the Bible.  Many believe that sinning is acceptable to God. Some even believe that they have an opportunity to repent from sin after they die.  How does that work?  And some believe they will confess and ask for forgiveness when they die and see Jesus.  But, it is too late.  Know this now:  God hates sin--He has no tolerance for it.  Many professing Christians and non-Christians believe they are the children of God.  They say "We are all children of God." This is not true. God chooses His children.  Those who obey his commands are His and only after regeneration and repentance of sin can one be called a "child of God."   Do you believe and obey God?  His children obey Him.

 

Sinners who do not obey God or follow His commandments, unrepentant sinners, and even many believing in other gods or "good spirits" and professing many roads to Heaven are not the children of God.  And if not the children of God, they must then be the children of the devil  You are some ones child, either God's child or Satan's.  Many, sadly are the children of the devil and do not even realize it.  They haven't even considered it. But it is true. And it is a tragedy because they are not Heaven bound, unless they change their ways and surrender to the Lord There is only one road to Heaven and that is through Jesus Christ.  A Christian believes and follows only the God of the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son [Jesus] and God the Holy Spirit); a triune God is one God existing in three persons.

 

Many people call themselves Christian; but an unrepentant sinner cannot be a Christian. Are they born again of the Spirit?  Have they been Baptized in the Holy Spirit professing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?  A Christian has to be convicted of sin. If there is no conviction, there is no true remission of sin.  Jesus said "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand" [Matthew 7:11]. Jesus and the apostles preached repentance.  We realize what sin is and that we are sinners.  When we believe in Jesus, we obey Jesus and repentance follows.  Repentance is turning away from sin.  Stop sinning. Christians want to please God by obeying His commands because they love God and are grateful for what He has done for them.  Truth is revealed and God is not only present but the work of the Holy Spirit in regeneration is evidence that God is real and He is in control.

 

In Romans 1:20-25, Paul explains this truth:

 

 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,  because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools,  and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
 
Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen (Romans 1:20-25).

 

People who follow false gods and practice religions (Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.), including false spinouts of Christianity (Mormonism, Seventh Day Adventist, Jehovah Witnesses, Unity, Universalism, etc.), all are under Satanic blindness because they are not following the truth of God's Word..  They don’t believe God’s Word from the Bible. They have called God a liar by not obeying His Word and have created their own god, for a number of strange and worldly reasons, and have subsequently created their own religion. God is not religion. Jesus did not come to form a religion. He came to same sinners. He came so that we would know God and seek Him.  It is only by God that we can be saved. We cannot save ourselves. We are saved by God's grace through our faith [Ephesians 2:8-10].  They have made up their own rules created by man not God, taking bits and pieces of God’s Word and manipulating it, changing it and picking out things they like and discarding the things they do not like. It is all nonsense.  Jesus did not tell us to form a religion. He told us about God and to follow Him not man- made, ritualistic and legalistic religions. No one does good, no not one [Romans 3:12].  You cannot think that being good will get you close God or into Heaven.  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" [Romans 3:23].  Believing that you are a good person and doing good works will not get you into Heaven.  If you know anything about God and His Word you will know this. Sadly, many form an image of God to suit themselves.  They believe in a god that is not the God of the Bible. They pray to a god that does not exist.

The Apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:1-7:

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

 

In verse five Paul says;  having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!  False religions following false gods have a form of godliness but deny its power, therefore, turn away from these people and seek the true God as spoken by the prophets in the Old Testament and by the apostles in the New Testament.   God wants you to know the truth: God the Father, God the Son [Jesus], and God the Holy Spirit.  One God manifested in three persons.
