Did Jesus Claim to be God?

My dear Friends,

Let's get the facts straight.  Jesus was 100 percent man and 100 percent God.  He was a Heaven sent Spirit who became a human being. "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"  [1 Timothy 1:15].  Jesus claimed to be God throughout the Gospels. Gospel means “Good News.”[John 8:24; 8:58].  Jesus is indeed the "Good News."

Jesus said:

  • “I am the bread of life” [John 3:35]

  • “I am the light of the world” [John 8:12]

  • “I am the door of the sheep” [John 10:7]

  • “I am the good shepherd” [John 10:11]

  • “I am the resurrection and the life” [John 11:25]

  • “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me"  [John 14:6]

  • “I am the true vine” [John 15:1]

  • “Before Abraham was, I am” [John 8:58]

In many places in the Bible Jesus claimed that He was not only equal to God, but that He was God.

  • “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me” [Mark 9:37].

  • that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him”[John 5:23].

  • “You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also” [John 8:19].

  • I and My Father are one” [John 10:30].

  • “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me”[John 12:44].

  • And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me”[John 12:45].

  • “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him” [John 14:7].

  • Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? [John 14:9]

  • Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves”[John 14:11].

  • “He who hates Me hates My Father also”[John 15:23].

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” [John 1:1].

  • “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” [John 1:14].

  • Jesus called Himself "the Son of Man" eighty-two times. In the Old Testament, Daniel, the prophet, used the title "Son of Man" referring to the Messiah [the Deliverer, the Savior of the world] who will save people from death and harm.

Yes. Jesus claimed to be God and is God. He is the Savior of the world, but the whole world will not be saved; very few in fact will be saved.  The world is filled with idolaters, pretenders and dreamers, the proud and arrogant.  Do they not fear God?   Do they not want to be the sons and daughters of God?  Few will enter through the narrow gate that leads to God and eternal life.  If you want to know   God and receive life everlasting, seek Him with a contrite and humble heart and turn from your sin and repent.  He will reveal the truth to all who come to Him.  The kingdom of Heaven is near.  Only those who believe and receive Christ as the Son of God, the one and only Savior and  Lord will be saved.  There is only one way to Heaven and it is through Jesus.  Do not be deceived. Open your Bible and read the Word of God. Begin with a prayer thanking God for His Word and that you comprehend what you read. You may start with the Gospel of John, then the Book of Acts, then Romans.  Read every word, slowing and out loud. Listen to the words that come out of your mouth.
